Ingredients
Cookies
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 Tablespoon vanilla Extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 Teaspoons baking powder
- 2 Teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 Teaspoon sea salt
Frosting
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2/12 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-2 teaspoons heavy whipping cream, or milk
- Ground cinnamon to sprinkle
Directions
Cookies
- In a large bowl start with the wet ingredients by beating together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla and mix well
- Now comes the dry ingredients: mix in the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt until a firm dough forms. Chill 30 minutes
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Roll dollops of dough in your palms and try to form one-inch balls and place them on parchment-lined cookie sheet. Flatten each ball slightly with your palm or drinking glass to be about 1/2-inch thick. Bake 7-9 minutes or until the bottom edges are just slightly brown. Remove to a cooling rack and let cool before frosting. **This recipe should make 18-24 cookies, it just depends on the size of the balls you make in this step.
Frosting
- In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in the powdered sugar until smooth. Add the vanilla and cream/milk as needed to reach desired consistency (also light and fluffy).
- Spread onto cooled cookies with a frosting knife or butter knife, or pipe it on in a circular motion if you'd like more of a cinnamon bun look. Sprinkle the tops with cinnamon.
- Store in a covered container in refrigerator 3-5 days
Note: You can freeze by first placing on baking sheet and freezing for 30 minutes and then stacking in covered container... you'd take out an hour before ready to serve.
So what does this recipe have to do with real estate? The aroma of cinnamon, perhaps. It is one of the most welcoming and warming scent there is, one that often puts people at ease. It could be a great recipe to make ahead of an open house or day of showings... for the scent alone, or to be left out as a treat and as a nod to the utility of a room that often sells houses: the "heart of the home", the kitchen :)
